Mission & Vision
Our Mission is to empower the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with the skill set and support needed to become a competent clinician who is confident to deliver excellent quality care to improve the health of the community and to train the clinician leaders of tomorrow in the Community Health Center movement.
Our Vision is to create an APRN Residency Program in Southern Arizona that creates highly competent, knowledgeable, and skilled APRN’s to serve the medical needs of not only the population of Tucson, Arizona but to become the state model of APRN training that would provide and improve access to quality healthcare for Arizona’s most vulnerable population.
Goals
1. Clinical workforce development to expand and improve access to quality primary care for medically underserved and vulnerable populations in Arizona by training new nurse Practitioners in the FQHC setting.
2. Provide support needed to the NP resident to achieve the level of competence, confidence, and the unique skill set needed to serve as a primary care provider in a complex FQHC setting through a structured transition experience that includes the necessary depth, breadth, volume and intensity of clinical practice.
3. Increase the overall confidence and professional job satisfaction of new Nurse practitioners who are committed to working in underserved community settings.
4. Develop leadership qualities of the NP resident to encourage engagement in leadership roles within the practice setting, profession, and community on local, state, and federal levels for the future of healthcare.
5. Develop a partnership with other FQHC throughout Arizona to provide residency training for their new nurse practitioners whom upon completion of the residency program would return to provide competent, quality healthcare to the underserved in that community.
