Prenatal Care

El Rio Health has provided pregnancy care since 1976. Our OBs and Midwives have delivered generations of Tucson babies. Every year, we deliver over 2,000 babies a year at Tucson Medical Center.

OB/GYN: We provide full spectrum obstetrical and gynecology care. We have in-office ultrasound and antenatal testing with non-stress tests. We take care of patients with high-risk pregnancies such as diabetes and hypertension and work closely with our maternal fetal medicine specialists. Midwifery: Our Certified Nurse Midwives are experts in healthy pregnancy. We offer full prenatal, birth and postpartum services, including Centering Pregnancy. At Tucson Medical Center, birth options include traditional care on Labor and Delivery or an in-hospital birth center experience in the Midwifery Center. El Rio Midwifery and El Rio OB/GYN are a joined practice. The Midwives and OB/GYNs offer a team approach with expertise and options for every pregnancy.

Family Medicine: A select group of family medicine physicians located at El Rio Abrams provide obstetrical care. Services provided are preventive gynecology, STD testing, family planning, prenatal care, obstetric care in the hospital, postpartum care, and also longitudinal care for newborns and children. We care for the entire family before, during, and after your pregnancy journey. Participating in care are family medicine resident physicians (physicians in their residency training) and attending physicians (graduated board-certified family physicians). We consult with Banner OBGYNs or Banner perinatologists (high risk obstetric providers), when appropriate. The same team that sees prenatal patients in clinic deliver our patients at Banner University Medical Center Tucson.
