El Rio HealthBuilders work with El Rio WIC, Dieticians, Behavioral Health, and RHAP Teams to offer healthy lifestyle classes for the whole family. Take a look at the options available for everyone from tots to teens and choose what might work for your family and your schedule.

Family Programs
Pima College Resistance Training Program (12-18 year olds)
Learn proper use of gym equipment, correct form and receive a personalized strength and cardio plan, all guided by a certified personal trainer. This program is designed to get you comfortable with and confident working out on your own. Note: children under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
Ages: Ages 12-18
Class Time: 1 hour, 2 times per week
Length of Program: 8 Weeks, offered year-round with a summer break
Class Type: In-person
Requirement: Must be an El Rio patient or family member of El Rio employee
Languages: Offered in both English and Spanish
Family Bonds: Mental Health and Self-Care Strategies for Families (ages 12-17 year olds)
A eight-week program to strengthen the family bond between teens and parents/caregivers. Includes activities like gardening, cooking, nature walks and art. Additionally, parents/caregivers will learn strategies for setting healthy boundaries, recognizing signs of depression or anxiety and improving communication with their teens.
Ages: Families with children ages 12-17
Class Time: 1.5 hours for teens and adults together, plus 1 hour session for adults only.
Length of Program: 8 Weeks

Let's Talk: A course for kids and their caregivers about how to be healthy (9-12 year olds)
This four-session workshop series is designed for families and their children aged 9 to 12 to learn more about sexuality topics and to build skills to support youth in making informed decisions. Peer leaders with El Rio Reproductive Health Access Project (RHAP) will lead youth through interactive workshops about puberty, healthy relationships, personal safety, pregnancy and reproductive anatomy. Parents will receive guidance from adult educators about how to discuss sexuality topics with their young people and provide support.
Ages: Ages 9-12
Class Time: 1.5 hours, 1 time per week
Length of Program: 4 weeks
Class Type: In-person
Languages: Offered in both English and Spanish
PowerFULL Families (7-12 year olds)
A 8-week program to learn to set healthy goals, practice mindfulness, move together and eat well as a family.
Ages: Families with children ages 7-12
Class Time: 2 hours, 2 times per week (1 in-person session, 1 virtual session per week)
Length of Program: 10 Weeks
Class Type: Hybrid with in-person and virtual sessions
Requirement: Must be an El Rio medical patient
Languages: Offered in both English and Spanish
Happy, Healthy Kiddos (3-6 year olds)
A fun, activity-based program to teach little ones about their physical and mental health, practice new skills, and help families communicate. Topics include dental health, checking in with your body, trying new foods, talking about feelings, and more!
Ages: Children ages 3-6
Class Time: 1 hour, 1 time per week
Length of Program: 4 weeks
Class Type: In-person
Languages: Offered in English
Tasting for Tots (2-5 year olds)
A fun, hands-on activity for little chefs ages 2 to 5 years. They will experiment with the taste and texture of different foods while increasing their ability to handle small objects and communicate.
Ages: 2-5 year olds
Class Time: 1 hour, 1 time per month
Length of Program: Ongoing, no time commitment
Class Type: In-person
