Program Aims

Community Medicine

Inspired by the Affordable Care Act, the program is designed to meet the needs of rural and urban underserved communities. The program provides learning experiences in numerous community settings to help residents get a better understanding of their community and the impacts of healthcare disparities.

Patient Centered Medical Home

El Rio Health provides comprehensive primary care and strives to meet the needs of our community. Services offered include Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Midwifery, Dental Care, Health Coaching, Pharmacy, Behavioral Health, Radiology, Health Insurance & Community Resource Case Management. El Rio staff are leaders in the development of nationally recognized healthcare programs and world class, integrated, primary care. Treating the whole person at one place is what we strive to do for every one of our patients.

Targeted Training

With a focus on caring for the underserved, our three-year Family Medicine Residency Program offers excellent opportunities for graduate medical trainees to learn the skills needed to become a lifelong competent and compassionate family physician. In addition to a diverse clinical experience in multiple settings, residents also participate in quality improvement projects to improve patient health outcomes.
