El Rio HealthBuilders offers education and wellness classes to everyone with a membership! Learn to better manage diabetes, stress or how to reduce fall risk. Explore weight management program options. Enjoy the support of a group as you practice strategies to build a healthy lifestyle for yourself or for the whole family.
Each course requires a $15 materials fee.
Adult Wellness Courses
A Matter of Balance
Learn to manage concerns about falls in this 8-class series. Includes strength-building exercises, strategies for increasing confidence and risk awareness.
Class Time: 2 hours, 2 times per week
Length of Program: 4 weeks

Breathe Better, Move More
Manage shortness of breath and increase function in this 4-week class. Learn how to identify and change your own breathing patterns, and explore the anatomy of breathing, the different jobs the nose does, breathing exercises, and classic breath-induced relaxation methods.
Class Time: 45 minutes, 2 times per week

Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP)
A 6-class series for those newly diagnosed with diabetes or those needing support managing their diabetes. Sessions include education and group activities to help with lifestyle changes to improve health.
Class Time: 2 hours, 1 time per week

Diabetes Ex Rx
A 12-week cardio and resistance training exercise circuit designed to enhance insulin sensitivity and increase overall metabolism for managing blood glucose levels. Instructors will encourage self-glucose checks before and after exercise. This class is for participants diagnosed as pre-diabetic or Type 2 diabetic.
Class Time: 1.25 hours, 2 times per week

Happiness Habits
Learn to create happiness for yourself and those around you in this 7-week program. Grow your resilience, tune in to what really matters in life, and connect with people around you. Each week includes discussion, group support, snacks, and gentle movement.

Healthy Body and Better Brain
Learn about and practice ways to improve brain health in this 8-week program. Have fun with art therapy, mindful movement, brain games, and healthy nutrition, while socializing in a group setting.

The Pause Circle: A Menopause Support Group
A supportive space for people in all stages of menopause. Connect with others, share your journey, and learn from expert-led mini sessions. Staff can schedule patients with menopause-focused medical visits, if desired.
Class Time: 1.5 hours, 1 time per week
