How to Apply:

We welcome applicants from all educational and personal backgrounds. We hope to train residents who are committed to serving our community in line with the mission of El Rio. As a new program, we are looking for residents who are motivated to help build a lasting legacy for our residency program.

We accept applications via ERAS. We will start accepting applications in fall 2024 for our inaugural PGY-1 class, starting summer 2025.

Application requirements:

1. Applicants must be eligible for an Arizona State Medical license by the end of training.
2. While only Step 1 or COMLEX 1 is required to apply to, applicants must successfully complete all parts (Steps) of the USMLE or COMLEX examinations with no more than 1 failure per exam.
3. Applicants must be able to carry out the duties as required by the residency program, with reasonable accommodation if needed.
4. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in comprehending, reading, writing, and speaking English in conversational and medical environments/topics.
5. Applicants must be able to reside continuously in the U.S. for the entire for the entire length of their training and be eligible to work in the US. We are unable to consider applicants requiring visa sponsorship or offer visa support at this time.
6. International graduates must be able to provide ECFMG certification.
7.  We will consider applicants who are no more than 1 year removed from clinical practice.
8. Applicants must be eligible to obtain a level 1 fingerprint clearance card in the state of Arizona and must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test.
9. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.
