The El Rio Midwives have referred you for Early Discharge Preparation Teaching so you can meet eligibility requirements for the short-stay option at the TMC Midwifery Center. (Leaving the hospital 4 – 12 hours post-birth, requiring follow-up appointments with the El Rio discharge nurses and your baby’s healthcare provider.)

Discharge Teaching is a onetime class for patients planning to use the short-stay option in the Midwifery Center. The class will be hour and a half and covers follow-up requirements, postpartum warning signs, normal postpartum recovery, understanding your newborn, and breastfeeding basics.

The class is taught remotely using Video Conferencing. You will need access to internet, Wi-Fi or data on a computer, a smart phone, or tablet. Please download the Zoom App before the call time, and make sure you can log in.

The discharge class is offered weekly on alternating Wednesday and Friday afternoons. for eligibility you are required to attend one occurrence.
