TUCSON (KVOA) – El Rio Foundation is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
El Rio’s first health center opened back in 1970 in Tucson.
Today, the foundation is preparing to open another location. The foundation purchased a vacant Wells Fargo building on Grant and Dodge.
The foundation is not receiving federal funds for this site. They are looking for donations to complete some major renovations.
“We will offer hope and healthcare to all community members, embracing refugees, seniors, veterans, single moms and children living in the surrounding areas,” El Rio said in a news release. “With your help, we can improve greatly improve health outcomes and neighborhood safety.”
This new El Rio site will serve 3,000 to 4,000 people.
