Advanced Practice Pharmacist

The Advanced Practice Pharmacist (4 days outpatient pharmacy and 1 day clinic) as part of an interdisciplinary health care team is responsible for providing high quality pharmaceutical patient care and services to El Rio patients at a clinic location assigned by management.  In this role the Advanced Practice Pharmacist is responsible for evaluating, monitoring, and prescribing medications as outlined in the collaborative practice agreement for El Rio Health (as allowed by the Arizona Revised Statute; recognized by the Arizona State Board or Pharmacy).

The Advanced Practice Pharmacist will provide counseling and information to patients and staff about medications and their use when prescribed by physicians and other healthcare practitioners.  The incumbent in this position works with administrative supervision and has discretion and independent judgment authority with respect to matters of significance in respect to pharmaceutical patient care, resolving any work problems involving departures from standard policies, interpretations, or procedures for which the Advanced Practice Pharmacist is responsible for within the scope of authority as defined by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy and the policies and procedures of El Rio Health.

Employees holding positions defined as safety sensitive are required to undergo drug testing prior to employment and, will be subject to post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return to duty and follow up drug and alcohol testing in compliance with Federal and State regulations for alcohol and controlled substance testing.  Employees in positions holding responsibility for the safety and welfare of others will also be classified as safety sensitive.
