‘Let them play’: LGBTQ community protests proposed transgender sports bill

PHOENIX – Representatives of the LGBTQ community gathered at the Capitol on Wednesday to protest a bill that would ban transgender girls from competing in women’s sports.

The event, tagged Equity Lobby Day, was in response to a bill proposed by Rep. Nancy Barto, R-Phoenix. House Bill 2706, the Save Women’s Sports Act, would require interscholastic and intramural leagues to classify separate co-ed, men’s and women’s sports.
